A Mother and Daughter Facing Daily Hardship
Sharaton has lived without her husband for approximately four decades. She and her daughter, Sahana, have faced significant financial hardship while trying to manage their daily lives. Sahana, who has an intellectual disability, relied on begging to support herself and her elderly mother.
Despite their difficult circumstances, the mother and daughter continued to manage their household together. However, one of their basic needs remained unmet: their home had no tube well, making access to water a persistent challenge.
Bringing Water Closer to Those in Need
Understanding the difficulties faced by Sharaton and Sahana, Do Something Foundation (DSF) provided a tube well for their household.
This support is intended to make water more accessible and reduce the hardship they experienced in meeting their daily water needs. For a vulnerable household, having a water source at home can make everyday activities easier and help improve overall living conditions.
Supporting Dignity Through WASH Initiatives
Access to water is essential for drinking, cooking, personal hygiene, and other daily activities. Yet vulnerable families can face considerable challenges when they lack a reliable water source near their homes.
Through its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, DSF works to support underserved households by improving access to essential water facilities. The tube well provided to Sharaton and Sahana reflects this commitment to standing beside people experiencing hardship and helping them meet their basic needs with greater dignity.
