Do Something Foundation (DSF) has provided a funeral bier (khatiya) and a washing platform to a mosque in a remote, wetland-surrounded village. This essential support will help the community conduct funeral arrangements with greater dignity and reduce hardship for grieving families.
In a remote village surrounded by wetlands, the local community faced a significant challenge during times of loss. The village mosque did not have essential facilities for washing and carrying deceased persons, including a washing platform and a funeral bier (khatiya).
Whenever someone passed away, these necessary items had to be brought from distant locations. Due to the village's location, surrounded by wetlands and waterlogged areas, transporting them was often difficult and time-consuming. Families had to go through additional hardship during an already painful and emotional time.
Most of the residents of the village are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and were unable to arrange or purchase these essential facilities collectively.
Recognizing this important community need, Do Something Foundation (DSF) stepped forward to support the mosque and its surrounding community. Under Mosque Support Project #134, DSF has provided a funeral bier (khatiya) and a washing platform for the proper washing and transportation of deceased persons.
These essential items will remain available for the community and will help reduce the difficulties faced by families during times of bereavement.
Through this initiative, DSF hopes to provide a meaningful and lasting benefit to the community while supporting dignity and proper arrangements during life's most difficult moments.
