For many students, admission to Class XI marks the beginning of an important new chapter in their education. But for students from financially struggling families, even the cost of admission can become a major obstacle.
Swarna is one such student. She has successfully passed her SSC examination and hopes to continue her education by enrolling in Class XI.
Her father works as an auto-rickshaw driver, and his income is the main source of support for the family. Unfortunately, around six months ago, he was injured in a road accident and suffered a broken leg. Since then, he has been unable to work, leaving the family in a difficult financial situation.
At a time when Swarna needed to secure her college admission, her father’s inability to work meant that the family could not arrange the required BDT 7,000 admission fee.
As a result, despite successfully completing her SSC examination, Swarna was unable to move forward with her college admission.
Recognising the importance of her education and the family’s financial hardship, the Do Something Foundation (DSF) stepped forward to support her.
DSF provided the necessary BDT 7,000 education assistance to help Swarna complete her Class XI admission.
This timely support will allow Swarna to continue her education without having to abandon her studies because of her family’s financial circumstances.
Education can open doors to greater opportunities, but financial difficulties often prevent deserving students from reaching those opportunities. By supporting students like Swarna at critical moments, DSF aims to help ensure that financial hardship does not become a permanent barrier to education.
