DSF Helps Marjahan Akhtar Restart Her Sewing Work

The Do Something Foundation (DSF) has provided a sewing machine to Marjahan Akhtar, a mother of three, to help her restart her sewing work and create a sustainable source of additional income for her family.

A Sewing Machine Brings New Hope for a mother of Three

For many families living in financial hardship, even a small source of additional income can make a significant difference. Marjahan Akhtar, a mother of three children, has been facing such a difficult situation with her family.

Her husband works as a helper at a wooden furniture shop. However, he is suffering from a kidney-related illness, and due to his health condition, he is no longer able to go to work regularly. As a result, the family's income has become uncertain, making it increasingly difficult to meet their daily expenses.

Marjahan has sewing skills and previously earned some additional income by doing sewing work from home. She had an old sewing machine that had been in use for around 15 years. Unfortunately, the machine eventually became unusable, and with it, her opportunity to earn an additional income also came to an end.

Recognising the family's difficult circumstances and Marjahan's ability to support herself through sewing, the Do Something Foundation (DSF) stepped forward to help.

DSF provided Marjahan with a new sewing machine, enabling her to restart her sewing work and create a source of income from home.

This support is more than just the provision of a sewing machine—it is an opportunity for a mother to regain her ability to earn, contribute to her family's financial stability, and move towards a more secure future.

Through its Income Generation Programme, the Do Something Foundation continues to support vulnerable families by providing practical assistance and sustainable opportunities for economic empowerment.
